Best Face Photo in January

Its voting time at www.iheartfaces.com this week! The theme is 'Best Face Photo in January'. I chose this photo of my little one. I loved it because she was so into playing she didn't even notice me and I thought it really captured how well she gets lost in her imagination with her toys. I also used this in one of my blog posts this month, you can read that here: http://justleesha.blogspot.com/2011/01/up-close-personal.html

Check out all the other great submissions by clicking on the link below, and if you like... you can vote for mine, (currently #187, but may possibly move around a bit). Voting opens up Tuesday. :)

Passion and a Dixie Cup

Being that my post yesterday was centered around just my little one, I wanted equal time spent on my oldest.
She didn't disappoint. I was treated to an impromptu concert the other day.

The site?
Little girls pink bedroom.

The main event??

This:

Little Richard?
"WaaaHOOOOOOOOO"

A little bit of Limp Bizkits Fred Durst?
Can you imagine?
help. me.

A Whitney Houston mega ballad?

A little bit of Britney pop?

No, this was pure original stuff.
Sung straight from the heart for her momma.
*sigh*

Oh WAIT!
A little Garth Brooks!!!
Now were talkn'!

It would be a crime

Oh man.

Look at this face!

AH!
I cant help but love those sweet little lips.

Bear in mind, she comes with a 'tude.
a BIG one.
Puuurely from her fathers side right?
right.
ummm right????
I may or may not be suffering from slight denial on that one.

...but she can turn on the sweetness in .0001 sec flat.

It would be a crime not to love this little stinker.

Soothing Repetition

Last weeks Project 52 theme was Shades of Grey. I loved it! I was able to take what has become one of my favorite photos. You can see the entire post here:
http://justleesha.blogspot.com/2011/01/shades-of-gray.html

This weeks theme was Soothing Repetition.

Ack!

I was clueless on what to do with that.

Knitting?
Can't knit, and if I did try it would be less then soothing!

A whirling fan??
A Rocking chair???

Then,

Ah-ha!

Ripples!
So I used a medicine dropper to make little ripples in a bowl for my entry.
You can seen all the other entries here:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/mcp-project52/

And now...
This has nothing to do with the theme.
Well, I suppose her muddy hand prints are slightly repetitious.
It was halfway decent out yesterday so the girls were able to play out back,
and apparently they made the biggest mud pie ever.

You should of seen their clothes.

Flowers

Many of you know I am a religious follower of The Pioneer Woman. Her amazing blog can be found here: www.thepioneerwoman.com doooo it!

Her latest photography contest theme was/is flowers. *gulp* I don't really do flowers. I've tried, but never thought I had the knack for it. So I ran through all my old photos from the summer just to see if I ever even took a photo of a flower.

wee! I did!

Here it is:

And I'll l be dang, I made it into group 1!
You can see mine and all the other entries here:
http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography

I discovered a few other flower photos, but they aren't nearly as wonderful as all the other entries I have seen on the Flickr group thus far. You can see those here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/pwphotoassignments/

I took the rest of these before I got my 50mm lens, so I'm excited to get out there this Spring and take some new flower-esque photos with it.

These yellow flowers were blooming at my In laws house this summer.

I took this while up camping.

more yellers..

Now this is a terrible photo, but I had to include it because....well, just look how much she has grown since this past summer?!
Sheesh.

Next on my photography wish list is a macro lens.
I would love to be able to take shots like these:

hello little guy.

Innocent wonder

The theme this weeks at I Heart Faces is Innocent Wonder.

There are a lot of photos of my girls that I thought would work for the theme, but this photo just seemed perfect.

I took this shot last fall of a friend's little boy. Isn't he adorable?! I love that I was able to capture the dandelion seeds! Pure luck :) His expression fits the theme so well I couldn't resist entering him.

Dolls vs Hotwheels

When you're a little girl its naturally assumed that dolls, barbies, and playing house will be a forerunner in your daily activities.

As a parent you best be prepared to play along.

But, when your dad is a huntn', campn', football watchn', beer drinkn' manly man... (insert man grunt here)... its also safe to assume that playing dolls would not be a on his list of favorite things to do.

However, my husband is the ultimate, and played dolls with the girls......even though it wasn't really his forté.

Until,

enter.....

Hotwheels!

He thought they were cool, the girls thought they were cool.

win. win.

Little did he know, girls don't deviate from their natural form of playing.

Its called 'Hotwheel House'

Mom car, dad car, sister car, baby car......etc.

And where else would a family of cars live.....

but a dream house of course!

My husband is outnumbered and completely perplexed.

Fix it Friday

Its fix it Friday at I Heart Faces. Check it out!

So what you do is take their original photo:

and edit it however you want:

Version #1

Version #2

Couldn't decide which one I liked best.

Here is some of what I did in CS3:
-Ran soft urban action by Florabella and tweaked it a bit.
-Sharpened & desaturated it a bit.
-Added some textures.
-Softened the edges.
- Added a film texture overlay.

Up close & personal

I love my 50mm lens. It takes such great portraits and close ups.

Like today when I caught my little one playing with her magnet book on the floor.

She was so into it she didn't even notice me.

She played with these forever.
I love to ease drop and listen to her play, her imagination always blows me away.

Here are some of my favorite up close and personal shots:

And this is an old one from this summer.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you all are having a great day!

whip it, whip it good

It started out innocent enough...

But then....

Cue bad 80's song.

"NOW WHIP IT!"

"Whip it goooood!"

"Into shape!"

"Shape it up!"

"Get straight!"

Don't fail me now.....

"Go forward!
move ahead!
try to detect it!
it's not too late!
to whip it!"

1 child is passed out.
the other,
"Who am I, how did I get here....and WHAT just happened??!"

just whip it.
