Fake snow storm

Last week I had the honor of having my cell phone photo posted by I Heart Faces on their facebook page. I was blown away by all the response! I ended up getting almost 2,000 visits to my blog in one day! And that's a lot for me!!

My photo also made it on their official site as a favorite chosen by Angie & Amy (creators of I Heart Faces). I was thrilled! You can see that here.

I did so much to the original shot I wanted to share what it looked like before I got it into photoshop
No App.
No Edit.

And since I wanted a more winter look but there was no real snow available, I made my own:

viola!
I love editing.

Something simple

I heart faces is focusing on anything BUT a face this week.
I have some photos that focus on hands or feet, but this has always been one of my favorites.

Just a simple photo of my daughters braid.

I was so lucky to be featured last week on I Heart Faces Facebook page and wanted to share my cell phone photo before and after version here. I always love to see the SOOC vs edits of other peoples shots so I thought I would share mine. :)

A view

(I added a fix it friday photo to my Orignal vs Edit page today)

MCP's Project 52's theme this week is:  The View From Here.

In order to participate in this particular photo assignment the photo has to be taken this week, these are just a couple of my old view favorites:

Can you believe I lived only a few hours from this place almost my whole life and just went there last summer?
I think I need to get out more!

My parents/grandparents/great grandparents and many cousins all grew up in this small Oregon valley, and many of them still call it home.
(this was  taken with my old point and shoot camera!)

The Sawtooth Mountains and two willing friends who let me photograph them. :)

My girls.
Betcha didn't know we get twisters here....
fakes ones that is. ;)

I'm going to try and go out this week and take some new 'view' photo's.
I prefer to photograph people and don't think I have the knack for landscapes, but its still fun!

iphoto

I Heart Faces challenge this week was to take a photo with your phone.
I haven't taken photos with my phone in forever, so it was something different to try.
I snapped this today:

Though you had to take your photo with your phone, you could edit it with whatever program you like.
So I edited mine in trusty 'ol Photoshop. :)

-------o-------

Whoo hoo! my cell phone photo made it on I heart faces this week!!
Thank you!

Angry Birds

Remember Nintendo? I'm talking the FIRST ever?
It was the pinnacle of 80's child entertainment folks!

Mario Bro's?? Doo-doo-doo-dooo-doo doot. doot.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? A-B-A-B-up-down-A-B-left-right-A-B-start.

Should I tell ya there were bite marks on our controllers, (which had actual cords by the way), due to the intense stress pressed upon my 7 year old psyche while trying to save the Princess and beat the evil Shredder?
Oh yeaaahhhh.

and now?

Touch screens.
Ohhhh how times are a changn'.

No more cords.

Just teeny weeny little game systems wrapped in an electronic masterpiece.

Complete with new games.

With names like Angry Birds....

which are entertaining 3 year old's everywhere.

ohhhh and mayyyybe their parents too.
shhhhh.

Open Your Heart

I didn't get last weeks photo taken for the MCP photo project, and when I read that the theme this week was 'Open Your Heart' I completely drew a blank on how to photograph that.

I failed miserably with photos that fit the theme with my girls.
They were enjoying what I presume to be very intense coloring session, and didn't want anything to do with me and my camera...so lets just say 'Open your heart' was certainly not what those photo's screamed.

So I took this instead.

c'est moi!

(I posted a new edit on my Orignal vs Edit page today)

Red

This weeks theme for I Heart Faces is Red.

Perfect chance to dig out some old photo's from our Fall trip to the orchard!

There she goes.

No more training wheels?
Easy does her....

Slight wobble on the up take.

Then..

Viola!
Pro.

Me, "oh honey, your like the best gosh-darn-two-wheel-riden' girl out there!"

Her, "ahhhhh shucks mom."

And the cutest part:

We are the proud owner of only one pink training wheel.
Why?
Because she insisted the other be sent to grandpa.
Proof that she can ride without them.

OK, that there training wheel has a contender for the cuteness win.
Because this:

was pretty darn cute too.
(notice mini photographer bottom right. That-a girl!)

If looks could kill

Just some evidence that my girls aren't always gung-ho to
have their mother shove her camera in their business.

Point taken little one.

Eeeek!

I'm outta here.

On the homefront

I love moments like these.

My little one quietly working in her preschool workbook.

She colored, cut, and glued for a good 3 hours.

and loved every minute of it!

She was able to do some pages I didn't think she would understand.

She stayed in the lines so well, and her cutting skills were borderline perfect!
*sigh*
(self hair cut not with standing!)

I was pretty darn proud.

and by the looks of it,

so was she.

Freckles & Lashes

Now that my daughter is getting the slightest hint of freckles across her nose,

 I'm learning to love mine.

Siblings.

Ahhhh siblings.

Here is me & mine.
Wasn't my little brother cute?
With that said....
I may or may not of done the following to him as a child:

Threw his clean underpants out the window to make him scream.
Attack him with a tumble weed when provoked.
Look at him when mom told us not to look at each other.
Make him do something bad, then tell on him.

He totally did the following:
Trapped me in the bottom of a sleeping bag and sat on the opening, thus rendering me helpless and deprived of oxygen.

My point is, siblings are great!
hmmmm did I miss the target a little with my examples?

Anyways,
now I have these two little whipper snappers.
Siblings. Sisters. Partners in crime.
Wait.
Crime?

Ok, more like partners in angelic endeavors gone wrong.

Regardless, I love watching them interact.
Here they are beautifying.
I love these cute sister moments!

Coloring,
and supervision of the said coloring.

And will you look at this.
Who are these little snow bunnies careening completely out of control towards?
Their MOTHER!
"Helllllp!"

Phew.
I'm safe.
ummmm children?

And now a more mild moment.

Ahhhhh.

And last, but not least,
an example of the above mentioned angelic endeavors gone wrong:
I suppose we could all use a little sister's forehead to color on once in awhile.

Great Moment, Baaaad picture.

This is my daughter and a friends little girl sledding a few weekends ago.
I loved the little one's expression, but the photo turned out very dull and you can hardly see her cute little face.

So I fiddled with it for awhile and was able to come up with this:

Hurrray!
Now that you can see her face, isn't she just the cutest?!

Pas de chat, arabesque, relevé & tutu's

My girls preformed to a packed house Friday night.

They did fab-u-lous!

Here is my baby girl with a very baby bun in her hair.

See it?
Didn't think so.
Its smaller then the headpiece.

And my oldest.
Check out that focus!

"No time for smiling mom, Im workn' here!"
sheesh.
(She takes this sport very serious folks!)

My little one ummm...errr...well...I don't remember that part of the routine, but.....

WORK IT GIRL!

And while my baby walked out of the gym that night she did this:

My only explanation is she saw this packed gym as the perfect place to remind all you manly men out there to...

 "Check out theeeeese guns!"

Cause, this sport ain't for Sissy's wimps ya'll!

Just Because Sista

This weeks theme for www.iheartfaces.com is 'Hearts'! whoo hoo! This photo I took last week and posted on my blog works perfectly. Check out all the other great 'Heart' entries by clicking on the link below!

Here is my original blog posting:

Because she's cute.

And because yesterday I finally stepped away from only using my aperture on 1.4 and turned it up to a whole 2.5!

*gasp*

and it turned out beautifully.
